Yearly Theme Reflections

Yearly Theme Reflections

I created this graphic at the beginning of the year, but I never posted it. As I looked back through my work it seemed that each year had a really strong theme or concept that continued to push its way through. It's so interesting to me how art can capture emotion and the things we're going through.

I don't know what the rest of 2020 will hold. I'm not sure how things will continue to change. I'm not sure what the overall theme for this year will be.

From the beginning of the year to now, I can see a change in my work and the styles and themes I'm using.

Early 2020 there was a stronger sense of whimsy and dreams. There was more experimentation in a way, but it was measured. My first few pieces came together so smoothly and easily.

Then Covid-19 hit and there's been another shift.

Things are always changing in this life, in our world.

Nothing lasts forever.

This was a reminder to me today that we've gotten through dark times before, and we'll get through these dark times again. There is hope on the other side.

What themes have you seen in your work? Have you noticed a shift in your style since social distancing?
